Keywords

by Rick

Diane: I've read that "loading up" keywords in your text will have a negative impact on the search engine ranking. As you know a writer needs to use a subsitute word to convey the same meaning. The e-book that I am writing is about the construction trade. I can use "builder" instead of "contractor", but both are key words! Are the keyword parameters based on keywords per page or on the entire text?

Answer:

Hi Rick, thanks for that question.

The idea is that you put up one keyword in your file name, then, you can list a few relevant keywords in your keywords tag line. Then use the keywords throughout your page as you write your content. Don't go overboard with them because the search engines don't like that. But use each of the keyword in your writing - may be 3 to 6 times or so throughout. Make them part of your write up flow -- including your file name keyword.

For example you can have your domain name as www.domainname.com/home-renovation.html - then talk about home renovation plus use the other relevant keywords that you placed into your keywords tag line.

Then your next page can be www.domainname.com/builder.html -- then talk about that plus the other relevant keywords you placed in your tag line for this page, etc...

Hope this helps!
